Hello, everyone. Welcome to Konnichiyall, a space for both learning Japanese and learning how to learn Japanese.  Here you'll find Japanese practice readings, self-study methods and advice, habit building information, and Japanese learning resources.

When I moved to Japan three years ago as an English teacher, I didn't speak any Japanese. I've spent my time here teaching myself the language from the ground up. I'm learning on a budget and working full time. So, I don't go to language school or take formal classes, I don't use expensive programs, and I shoot for minimal use of textbooks as well.

Studying Japanese this way is definitely possible, and actually has a lot of benefits, too! Going at my own pace, I was able to pass the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) Level N1 in under 4 years. On this website, I want to share everything I've learned throughout my own studies, and as a language teacher myself, so that I can help you reach your Japanese goals a little more easily and quickly. Konnichiyall is a place for anyone else who wants to take their Japanese studies into their own hands.
